Buy a notebook. Everything you do from here on out will

Create a file for all receipts and estimates. Keep this
file handy; don’t lose it! |

Call your accountant. Find out what expenses might be
deductible. |

Talk with family and friends. You will need their support.
Enlist them early. Ask them how they managed moves of their

Choose a move date that is convenient for you and your
family, not a holiday period or family event/vacation. |

Compare the size of your present home with the home
to which you are moving. Is it smaller? Will you need
to be selling, giving or otherwise getting rid of furniture
and belongings? |

As you begin to sort through your belongings, stay
focused on one closet or room at a time. Make initial
decisions regarding the contents and write those decisions
down. When you have gone through the entire house, visit
your new home. Are your choices realistic? |

When relaxing in the evening, begin to sort through
family photographs and memorabilia. Ask family members
if they would like anything; ask them to commit to a
date to come and get the items you and they have chosen. |

Research antique dealers, consignment shops and libraries.
What can be sold? What will you need to give away? |
